  • Karen Willenbrink-Johnsen and her husband Jasen Johnsen created a new body of work for Karen's exhibition at Habatat Galleries in West Palm Beach, Florida, December, 2018. Karen and Jasen invited Martin Janecky and Chris Stenzel to come work with them in order to create some larger pieces. In this instance, Martin is considered the Gaffer of the piece, even though the form and color techniques are all Karen's designs. This piece was about 7 hours work from start to finish, including making the hot-de-verre fusing which create the pattern on the surface of the sculpture. An avid bird watcher, Karen based this sculpture on the herons which flourish in western Washington state. To see more of Karen and Jasen's work, including Jasen's glassmaking tools, check out https://www.willenbrinkjohnsen.com/To see more of Martin's work seehttp://www.martinjanecky.com/
